Who does it best? Germany’s Garden Show Phenomenon

Germany’s garden shows are one of the wonders of the horticultural world. Federal events (known by its acronym BUGA) happen every two years, with high levels of funding from all levels of government, creating spectacular events that are open from April to October. Most importantly they leave behind a legacy public park – indeed a crucial part of their raison d’etre is urban regeneration. Ina Sperl is the Press Officer for next year’s event in Mannheim; she tells us the history, and about the process of getting these mammoth events off the ground.
