Grasses are integral to a great many natural plant communities, many of which are are an inspiration to us in our design work. And yet they can create problems, as anyone who has tried to establish a wildflower meadow on rich loam can testify. Prof. James Hitchmough shares images from the many landscapes he has travelled in, discussing how grasses provide habitat and co-exist alongside other plants, and how they might be managed in designed plantings, to complement and not out-compete other components.
